Ballet at the Royal Opera House, 12th June

Enjoyed Romeo and Juliet here enormously. Just a really splendid evening - the place was packed with well-heeled folk having a good time, the music was fantastic as expected and the dancers first rate. It's easy to think, "well the good bit of a story like Romeo and Juliet is in Shakespeare's use of language, so surely removing that bit and doing it all like a mime is a bit shit?". But in fact the dancers communicate an amazing amount of feeling with their performances, for example Romeo trying to dance with Juliet for a second time by supporting her now limp and apparently lifeless form - it's was muy poignant.

Only took a couple of pics as outside the performance, it was pretty hectic - no sooner is there a break for an interval than they're ringing bells and getting you to sit down again, barely affording enough time for a swig of sauvignon and a couple of dainty sarnies.
