UK Update

Hmm, not quite sure why I don't really do blog updates while I'm in UK. Something to do with a lack of occasion, perhaps? Anyway, a few notable mentions to include so I can one day in the future recall what I got up to way back when. I cannot think of any other practical use for this blog save for:
- putting off potential employers
- disappointing potential customers
- alarming friends/potential love interests
- infringing copyrights
- provoking litigation

So it is a multifunctional blog, as well as its core raison d'etre as aide memoire and occasional expiatory confessional.

Oh, the reason I was in UK for pretty much all of July was that Finland more or less closes down in July. The office where I work has skeleton crew only and I am reliably informed it becomes a bit of a ghost town (are there other undead-related references for referring to lifeless scenarios? Does one talk of wraith parties? Lich lounges? Yurei bars?).

UK activities, July

Things glad about:
Stag do at Sandown races - lovely weather, very agreable day out, won sod all.
Mountain biking with mates at Dalby in N Yorks. Loved it, must do more soon (especially as it seems to be essential these days for adventure racing).
A few pub quizzes. Whilst this sounds a sad and middle-aged activity, they're very sociable and rewarding. Why, at one we won £20, a Malcolm X DVD and a concrete duck!
Bupa 10k Great Capital Run - squeezed out a 41m 11s which is good progress.
Dinner at Sardo - Sardinian restaurant in Fitzrovia - highly recommended.

Thing not glad about:
Was very very stupid and have upset someone I like very much.
